Heating & Cooling Campaign

Kinderhook township is conducting our second community campaign. For this campaign Kinderhook has partnered with Heat Smart Capital Region in an effort to educate people as to the benefits of switching from fossil fuel run heaters and AC units to heat pumps of various kinds.

Heat Smart Capital Region has vetted several installers of these heat pumps so residents can be assured they are working with reputable contractors. Residents can go to heatsmartcapitalregion.com to enroll and select which installer they would like to work with. The installers will come out to your home free of charge to give you a free estimate on a unit. Financial assistance for these units is available to those that qualify and incentives are available to everyone for upgrading.

Similarly, like with the solar campaign if the town successfully gets 5 individuals to upgrade to a heat pump of some kind there is a chance of securing a $5,000 grant via NYSERDA in which the town will utilize for future climate work.

WE REACHED TIER 2!! We have already had 15 houses upgrade to heat pumps and we continue to hear of more. Reaching tier 2 means we have been awarded a total of $15,000 from the Clean Energy Communities program. This money will be used to future climate projects here in Kinderhook.
