Climate Adaptation & Resiliency Planning
Columbia County is constructing a Climate Adaptation and Resiliency plan with the help of Cornell Cooperative Extension. The county offered all its municipalities the opportunity to piggyback on this effort giving us the accessibility to Cornell Cooperative Extension and all its support. The town of Kinderhook, not having a climate adaption and resiliency plan or an adaptation plan decided to jump at the opportunity.
Having a plan in place which directs us, current town leaders, and future town leaders on how we will successfully adapt to climate change is vital. Climate change is happening and we need a plan on how to adjust properly. The Climate Mitigation plan lays out for us how we will recover if and when a natural disaster does occur.
With the help of Audrey Kropp at Cornell Cooperative Extension, town residents were surveyed and focus groups were created to work on developing the Town’s first Climate Adaptation and Resiliency Plan.
THE TOWN OF KINDERHOOK GOT ITS OFFICIAL CARP PLAN AND IT CAN BE FOUND AT
