Community Solar Campaign

In April of 2022, the Town partnered with Neighborhood Sun to promote a community solar campaign. Residents could sign up with Neighborhood Sun in order to save money on utility bills by collecting a share of the solar energy harnessed monthly from solar farms here in NYS.

This campaign was done as an action under NYSERDA’s Clean Energy Communities Program. The action consisted of community outreach, community education, followed by getting at least 5 residents to sign on to Neighborhood Sun. Documentation of the completion of these actions were sent off to NYSERDA. On a first come first serve basis, municipalities that completed the actions were eligible to receive a $5,000 grant

As a result of this campaign the town was granted a $5,000 grant from NYSERDA.

In October of 2024 the Town of Kinderhook has decided to try for Tier 2 and 3 with a new Community Solar provider. We have partnered with PureSky to bring Community Solar and its benefits to the residents of Kinderhook. Keep your eyes out for information to come in your email, to your mailbox, on the Town Website, and on Facebook as well as NextDoor.
